Ethan Holand
Planetary Robotics @ CMU. Prev @ NASA JPL, Fulfil, Northeastern University RIVeR Lab

I am a robotics engineer with deep experience in hardware and software. I’m currently completing my Master’s in Robotics at Carnegie Mellon University, where I am working on a passively-steered field research rover with Dr. David Wettergreen, a real lunar microrover with Dr. Red Whittaker, and a self-playing AI pinball machine with Dr. Guanya Shi.
Prior to Carnegie Mellon, I worked at NASA JPL testing the landing gear for the Mars Sample Return Mission and at Fulfil Solutions on automated grocery item manipulation.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering at Northeastern University. There, I was active in Dr. Taşkın Padır’s RIVeR Lab, publishing three peer-reviewed research papers.
I was the founder and two-term President of the NURobotics Club, growing the org to over 425 members. I was also the President of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) chapter, the largest engineering major on campus.
I have built over a dozen robots, managed 50+ students, mentored 121 towards their Solidworks Certifications, been featured in press, and received awards for leadership, technical writing, and engineering innovation.
